SP 68 Bianco 2025
The SP68 Bianco by Arianna Occhipinti stands as an absolute icon for Italian low-intervention whites, radiating the bright sun, sea breeze, and limestone energy of southeastern Sicily. Named after the historic Strada Provinciale 68—the country road slicing through the vineyards of Vittoria—this cuvée brings together two native varieties: Albanello and Moscato d'Alessandria (locally known as Zibibbo). Managed strictly through organic farming, the vines thrive at 280 meters above sea level on red sands mixed with chalky limestone subsoils, a unique layout that locks a brilliant, razor-sharp acidity into the fruit.
The cellar work closely follows a non-interventionist manifesto to preserve the raw vibration of the vintage. Following a manual harvest, the fruit undergoes a spontaneous fermentation triggered by wild, indigenous yeasts, accompanied by a 15-day skin-contact maceration in concrete tanks. This targeted maceration coaxes out intense aromatic depth and structural salinity while maintaining supreme freshness. The wine then matures for 6 months on its fine lees in concrete vats before bottling. Bottled unfined and unfiltered with minimal added sulfites, SP68 Bianco offers an incredibly pure, high-energy, and deeply Mediterranean drinking experience.
