Sauternes 2020
The 2020 Premier Cru Classé by Château Suduiraut stands out as a monument of richness, grace, and laser-sharp balance, representing the pinnacle of the iconic Sauternes appellation. Located in the commune of Preignac, the gravelly, sandy-clay soils of Suduiraut benefit from a unique microclimate generated by the confluence of the Ciron stream and the Garonne river. The autumn morning mists create the ideal conditions for Botrytis cinerea (noble rot) to thrive, naturally dehydrating the grapes and concentrating their sugars, acidity, and aromatic complexity.
The 2020 vintage proved exceptional, yielding fruit with perfect noble rot concentration backed by remarkable structural acidity. Crafted mainly from Sémillon with a touch of Sauvignon Blanc, the grapes are meticulously hand-picked through successive passes (tries) to select only the finest botrytized berries. In the cellar, the wine undergoes fermentation and aging in French oak barriques for 18 to 24 months (with a significant portion of new oak), crafting a velvety, multifaceted masterpiece built to age effortlessly for decades.
