Abrigo Fratelli

Dolcetto di Diano d'Alba 2024

The Diano d'Alba DOCG by Abrigo Fratelli offers a fresh, modern, and highly sophisticated interpretation of Dolcetto, bridging traditional old-vine heritage with a clever, forward-thinking winemaking approach. Sourced from a pristine 1-hectare plot facing Southwest in the commune of Diano d'Alba, the vines thrive on light, white clay-limestone marls enriched with sand and sandstone. The soul of this label lies in its extraordinary vine age: an average age of 50 years, featuring historic heritage vines planted up to 77 years ago. Production remains an exclusive micro-lot, yielding just 2,819 bottles for the first release, bottled in the iconic Albeisa glass.

In the cellar, the Abrigo family adopts a distinctive technique: semi-carbonic maceration with whole clusters up to 60% of the batch, while the remaining fruit is destemmed and crushed to generate the natural CO2 required for the process. Fermentation on the skins lasts 4–5 days at 25–26 °C. To protect its vibrant fruit purity, the wine ages for five months in stainless steel tanks before being bottled in February. The outcome is a delightfully aromatic, silky, and energetic expression of the Diano d'Alba terroir.
