Derthona Timorasso dei colli Tortonesi 2024

The "Derthona" by La Colombera is an absolute institution within the landscape of great Italian white wines. The winery, led with craftsmanship and deep devotion by Elisa Semino in Tortona, was among the very first estates to firmly believe in the renaissance of the Timorasso grape. This iconic wine is sourced from grapes grown on unique hillside soils characterized by alternating light and dark clays. This specific terroir grants the variety a powerful structure, a dense mineral core, and a backbone of acidity that pave the way for an exceptionally long-lived white wine, capable of evolving beautifully in the cellar beyond 10 years.

In the cellar, the winemaking approach is rigorous and focused on respecting both the variety and the soil. Fermented strictly in stainless steel tanks under temperature control, the Derthona undergoes an extended aging period on its fine lees (sur lie). La Colombera deliberately avoids the use of oak for this label, preferring the purity of the fruit and the complex minerality of the clay to express themselves in all their might, resulting in a proud, vertical, and exceptionally textured white wine.
