Bourgogne Chardonnay Clos de la Chapelle 2023
The Bourgogne Chardonnay "Clos de la Chapelle" by Domaine de Bellene stands as a masterful and pristine expression of Burgundy's ultimate white grape variety. Founded in 2005 in Beaune by the celebrated and talented vigneron Nicolas Potel, the estate is deeply committed to organic and biodynamic farming, low-intervention winemaking, and the preservation of old vines (many over 50 years old), utilizing only indigenous yeasts and minimal sulfur.
The "Clos de la Chapelle" is sourced from selected plots thriving on Burgundy's classic limestone-clay marls, which grant the wine a vibrant acidic backbone and a sharp, chalky mineral driving force. In the cellar, vinification respects the raw material: fermentation triggers spontaneously via wild yeasts, and the wine is then aged for several months in French oak barriques (with a very judicious use of new wood). This oak program is designed not to mask the fruit, but to polish its texture, granting the palate a silky weight and sophisticated aromatic complexity while fully preserving its trademark precision and razor-sharp freshness.
