Barolo Triple A 2021
The Barolo DOCG 'Triple A' (No Added Sulfites) by Cascina Fontana (Mario Fontana, Monforte d'Alba) represents an extraordinary and ultra-rare addition to the Langhe fine-wine landscape, born from the collaboration between classical Piemontese artisanal heritage and the Triple 'A' movement. Produced in a micro-allocation of just 2,400 bottles, this wine is sourced entirely from the prized 'Gallinotto' vineyard in La Morra, where a tiny 0.64-hectare parcel of 45-year-old vines thrives on sandy, loam-clay soils rich in Sant'Agata Marls.
Winemaking reflects uncompromising natural discipline: spontaneous fermentation and an extended post-fermentative skin maceration exceeding 30 days in concrete vats, followed by 7 months in concrete and 2 years of maturation in 10 and 20 hl Slavonian oak casks. Bottled with zero added sulfites (yielding a minimal natural total sulfur level of 18 mg/L), Cascina Fontana's Triple A Barolo balances noble structural volume with vibrant, uninhibited purity, highlighted by lifted floral-balsamic fruit and the signature citrus drive of the Gallinotto terroir.
