Barolo Margheria 2021

SKU: P3938S

The Barolo "Margheria" by Azelia stands as a liquid monument of immense structural power and mineral focus, fully capturing the complex, untamed soul of Serralunga d'Alba. This cult single-vineyard red originates from a pristine 1.9-hectare parcel perched between 250 and 360 meters above sea level with a perfect South/Southwest exposure. The true heartbeat of this label lies in its old-vine heritage: the average age of the vines is 70 years old. These deep-rooted ancient clones thrive on clay soils enriched with tuffaceous marls, delivering fruit with phenomenal concentration, natural depth, and sharp structural focus.

The cellar management follows a strict traditionalist manifesto designed to mirror the vineyard with high definition. Fermentation triggers spontaneously with indigenous yeasts at 31 °C, followed by an extensive, traditional submerged-cap maceration running for 30 to 35 days to guarantee a seamless, noble extraction. The structural matrix is then slowly sculpted through a monumental aging timeline: the wine matures for 30 months in large, neutral oak casks (botti grandi). Free from any modern makeup or cosmetic new wood flavors, this formula allows the raw, majestic essence of the terroir to take center stage, yielding a highly exclusive lot of roughly 6,100 bottles.
