The Barolo DOCG "Ginestra Casa Matè" by Elio Grasso represents the benchmark of power, depth, and broad structure in Monforte d'Alba. First released alongside its sister cru Gavarini Chiniera in 1978, this iconic single-vineyard Barolo hails from the world-renowned Ginestra MGA (Casa Matè plot), perched at 300–350 meters above sea level with full Southern exposure. Unlike sandy sites, the soil here features rich calcareous-clay marls, imparting dense physical structure, muscular tannins, and profound depth.

Crafted from old vines with an impressive average age of 60 years (trained via Guyot at 4,500 vines per hectare), "Casa Matè" undergoes meticulous manual harvesting followed by traditional cellar management. Aged in large oak casks, the wine unveils dark red fruit, balsamic nuance, and powerful structural firm grips that require time to fully unfurl, standing as one of the most long-lived and authoritative Barolos in the entire region.
