Viglierchio

Barolo DOCG 2022

The debut Barolo by Fratelli Viglierchio marks the compelling maiden vintage of a boutique project rooted in one of Monforte d’Alba’s most majestic and wild single vineyards: the Bricco San Pietro MGA. Perched on the steep, breezy western slopes of Monforte at an average altitude of 380 meters above sea level, this historic cru is highly revered for shaping Nebbiolos of massive structural integrity and aristocratic depth. For their very first release, the Viglierchio brothers fully embraced the uncompromising, vertical essence of this terroir. The vines thrive on a complex geological profile of clay-limestone soils rich in sand, allowing the fruit to build a precise, tight tannic weave backed by a brilliant mineral definition.

The cellar framework honors classic Langhe traditions with high definition. Following a rigorous hand-selection during harvest, the grapes undergo prolonged skin-contact maceration to naturally extract the deepest, most authentic varietal character. The structural core is then slowly sculpted through extended aging in traditional oak casks, a choice aimed at refining Monforte's natural muscle while keeping the wine completely clean and unmasked. Released in a highly exclusive, small-lot bottling, this inaugural vintage stands as an exciting new chapter for connoisseurs tracking the ultimate expressions of contemporary yet traditional Barolo.
