Barolo DOCG 2022
The Barolo DOCG by Paolo Scavino stands as the ultimate embodiment of balance, symmetry, and architectural depth within the Langhe hills. Founded in 1921 and managed today with boutique precision by Enrico Scavino alongside his daughters Enrica and Elisa, this historical blend combines estate-owned plots spread across seven of the appellation's most prestigious crus (spanning Castiglione Falletto, Barolo, La Morra, and Serralunga d'Alba). This classic multi-vineyard approach beautifully synthesizes diverse soil matrices—from limestone-clays to sandy marls—yielding a wine of harmonious and consistent complexity.
The 2022 vintage distinguished itself as one of the warmest and sunniest seasons of recent decades; however, the Scavino family's viticultural mastery successfully safeguarded an astonishing freshness and pristine fruit integrity. Crafted from 100% Nebbiolo, the wine undergoes traditional red vinification followed by a stellar aging regimen: 24 months in oak, meticulously balanced between neutral barriques and large oak casks, followed by extensive bottle rest. The goal is to harness the dense concentration of the vintage, turning its natural muscle into a regal, aristocratic, and exceptionally age-worthy complexity.
