Barolo DOCG 2022
The "classic" Barolo DOCG by Azelia stands as a masterpiece of balance, finesse, and terroir synthesis. Crafted from the harmonious blend of seven distinct single vineyards spanning the legendary communes of Castiglione Falletto and Serralunga d'Alba (enhanced by a superb contribution from the Bricco Voghera Riserva plot), this bottling brilliantly marries Castiglione’s aromatic grace with Serralunga’s muscular depth and structural power.
Sourced from 5.5 hectares of estate vineyards perched between 250 and 370 meters above sea level with South-West exposure, the vines thrive on white calcareous-clay soils with an average age of 50 years (trained via Guyot at 4,400 vines per hectare). Traditional cellar methods feature indigenous yeast fermentation via the submerged-cap (cappello sommerso) method for 20 to 25 days at roughly 31 °C. The wine then ages for 24 months in large Slavonian oak casks. Yielding approximately 29,400 bottles and 600 magnums annually, it offers a benchmark expression of classic Barolo elegance.
