Barolo del Comune di Verduno 2022
The Barolo DOCG 'Comune di Verduno' by Borgogno & Carbone—crafted by Fabrizio Borgogno and Stefano Carbone, co-founders of La Morra's iconic food and wine destination, More e Macine—stands as an exceptionally refined, ethereal, and site-specific expression of the appellation. Sourced entirely from a single vineyard plot within the renowned commune of Verduno, this bottling captures the signature grace, aromatic lift, and silky textural footprint of this northernmost Barolo terroir. The vineyard's fine sandy-marl soils (Sant'Agata Fossili Marls) yield a Nebbiolo characterized by striking floral complexity, delicate spice, and vibrant minerality.
Cellar protocols strictly adhere to traditional methods: temperature-controlled fermentation with extended skin maceration to extract poliphenols with delicate precision. The wine matures for a minimum of 24 to 30 months in traditional large Slavonian oak casks (*botti grandi*), followed by extensive bottle refinement. Borgogno & Carbone's single-vineyard Verduno Barolo emerges as a deeply elegant red—soaring with dried violet, peony, wild strawberry, and white pepper aromatics, anchored by a seamless, mineral-driven palate and polished, fine-grained tannins.
