Barbera d'Alba Bricco del Cuculo 2021

The Barbera d'Alba DOC "Bricco del Cuculo" by Castello di Verduno is a rare and historically rich wine of extraordinary character. The vineyard crowns the summit of the hill within the renowned Faset district. Its evocative name stems from the abundant cuckoos echoing through the surrounding wooded gorges in spring, alongside the blooming of "Pan del Cuculo," a wild flower blanketing the slopes as the weather warms. The vineyard boasts an incredible pedigree, with the original Barbera plantings dating back to the late 1940s, complemented by a second plot in 1961.

Perched on the hilltop, the old vines enjoy uninterrupted sun exposure from dawn until dusk. The white, chalky soil is exceptionally rich in tuffaceous limestone, which, combined with the vines' advanced age and an exclusive production, creates a Barbera of unmatched precision, linear minerality, and legendary aging capacity.
