Barbera d'Alba Pozzo 2023
Barbera d'Alba Vigna Pozzo represents the pinnacle of Renato Corino’s production for this grape variety. With an annual output of just 3,000 bottles, it originates from a single, historic 0.6-hectare vineyard in La Morra. Here, 60-year-old vines ensure exceptionally low natural yields, producing grapes of extraordinary concentration and complexity.
The winemaking process follows a rigorous protocol: after fermentation in stainless steel, the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation in large casks and ages for 18–20 months in barrels of varying ages. The decision not to filter the wine preserves the fruit's structure and rich extract. The result is a Barbera of remarkable depth, combining generous fruitiness with vibrant acidity and an aging potential comparable to that of great Barolos.
