Barbaresco Roccalini 2021
The Barbaresco DOCG by the boutique estate Roccalini (Paolo Rossignoli) is a pure, ancestral, and deeply authentic expression of Nebbiolo hailing from the renowned Roccalini MGA in the commune of Barbaresco. Rooted in a 2.5-hectare single-vineyard plot composed of classic Sant'Agata Marl soils, the 25-year-old vines benefit from ideal drainage and limestone depth. Farmed with low-intervention artisan discipline, this wine captures the soul of traditional Barbaresco.
Cellar protocols faithfully uphold historical practices: spontaneous fermentation powered by a self-cultivated 'pied de cuve' in stainless steel or concrete vats, followed by an extraordinary 60-day extended skin maceration using the submerged-cap 'steccatura' method. The wine matures for two years in large oak casks before being bottled unfined and unfiltered with minimal total sulfur (27 mg/L). Yielding a tiny production of 12,850 bottles (available in 75 cl and 150 cl Magnum formats), Roccalini's Barbaresco delivers soaring floral aromatics, razor-sharp precision, and silky, age-worthy tannins.
