Castello di Verduno

Barbaresco Rabajà-Bas 2022

SKU: P3442S

The Barbaresco "Rabajà-Bas" by Castello di Verduno stands out as an authentic liquid jewel, a red wine of extraordinary grace and tailored precision that mirrors the most aristocratic soul of Nebbiolo. The estate, based in the historic castle of Verduno (famed for its Barolo), has long held a prized plot within the legendary Rabajà cru in the Barbaresco village. Specifically, their vines thrive in the sub-sector known as Rabajà-Bas ("Lower Rabajà"): a natural amphitheater defined by ancient limestone-clay marls and a unique microclimate regulated by the Tanaro river, yielding flawless phenolic ripeness and an intensely elegant aromatic blueprint.

The winemaking matrix closely adheres to the finest and purest Langhe traditions. The Nebbiolo grapes are manually harvested and fermented in large, open-top wooden vats, featuring an extended skin-contact maceration to guarantee a seamless, noble extraction. The wine then completes its maturation by resting for roughly 20 to 24 months in large, neutral Slavonian oak casks. This low-intervention formula shuns modern cosmetic makeup, allowing the salty mineral drive of the terroir and the delicate floral character of the grape to take center stage. A world-class Barbaresco built with immense cellaring potential.
