Barbaresco Muncagota Riserva 2021
The Muncagota Riserva (historically known as Muncagotta or by its older spelling Moccagatta) stands as one of the most intriguing and elegantly austere single-vineyard expressions among the cooperative's nine iconic Lieux-Dits. This vineyard is located in the central-eastern sector of the Barbaresco municipality, running along a hillside with a dominant South-East exposure at an altitude of 250–300 meters above sea level. This unique position catches the early morning sun, promoting a steady, gradual ripening while preserving an impeccable core of natural acidity.
In keeping with the estate's tradition, this Riserva is crafted strictly in outstanding vintages. The winemaking reflects unyielding Langhe classicism: fermentation in stainless steel with a 30-day extended skin maceration, followed by 36 months of slow aging in large Slavonian oak casks, and additional bottle maturation. Muncagota stands out for its precise, linear, and remarkably floral profile, making it one of the most refined and structurally focused crus in the entire lineup.
