Rossj-Bass Langhe Bianco 2024

SKU: P3859S

The "Rossj-Bass" stands as one of the most celebrated and beloved white wine creations from the legendary Angelo Gaja winery in Barbaresco. Debuting in the late 1980s, this wine was crafted to prove to the world that the Langhe hills—traditionally famous for world-class reds—could yield white wines of majestic structure, complexity, and cellaring potential. The name is an affectionate tribute by Angelo Gaja to his second daughter, Rossana (nicknamed "Rossj"), paired with the Piedmontese word "Bass" (low), which identifies the lower-lying position of part of the original estate vineyards.

Crafted predominantly from Chardonnay with a small, clever percentage of Sauvignon Blanc to lift its aromatic freshness, Rossj-Bass is sourced from selected plots within the Barbaresco and Serrano municipalities. The winemaking masterfully balances technical precision with great tradition: fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel, followed by malolactic fermentation and an aging period of about 6 to 7 months in used French oak barriques. The result is an aristocratic, textured white wine backed by an absolute core of pristine acidity.
