Oddero Poderi e Cantine

Barolo Monvigliero 2021

SKU: P3550S

The Barolo Monvigliero marks a historic milestone for Poderi Oddero: their debut (with the 2020 vintage) in what is widely considered the "Grand Cru" of Verduno. The vineyard is a mosaic of generations, where old vines planted in 1958 coexist with younger plantings, all benefiting from a perfect southern exposure. Monvigliero is renowned for its unique microclimate and limestone-rich soils, which impart an almost ethereal elegance to the Nebbiolo, setting it apart from the more austere structures found elsewhere in the Barolo zone.

Production is extremely limited — only about 2,000 bottles — and crafted with surgical precision, from the double sorting of grapes to the 24-month aging in 20-hectoliter French oak casks. The result is a wine of immense finesse: a luminous garnet red with a sophisticated bouquet of cherry, red currant, and the characteristic note of white pepper, the unmistakable hallmark of Verduno’s terroir. On the palate, the tannins are silky and savory, offering a depth that dances with extraordinary grace.
