Barolo Bussia Vigna Mondoca Riserva 2019

SKU: P3554S

The Barolo Bussia originates from the renowned Mondoca subzone in Monforte d'Alba, a natural amphitheater perched at 380 meters above sea level with a stunning South-West exposure. Here, the 35-year-old vines thrive in a soil that imparts an imposing structure and a unique mineral depth to the Nebbiolo. Poderi Oddero’s philosophy for this vineyard is focused on the ultimate expression of longevity: in exceptional vintages, the Bussia Mondoca is designated as a Riserva, released only after a full 5 years of aging.

The winemaking involves a lengthy 30-day maceration, essential for extracting the proud character of Monforte, followed by a solemn 36-month aging in 30-hectoliter oak casks. On the nose, the wine is incredibly persuasive, releasing balsamic hints of Mediterranean scrub, dried rose, and small berries that evolve into noble goudron with age. The palate is defined by masterful balance, featuring a fine yet powerful tannic structure and a very long, complex finish that confirms its world-class status.
