Barbera d'Alba Vigna Francia 2024
The Barbera d'Alba DOC "Vigna Francia" from the legendary Giacomo Conterno winery (Monforte d'Alba) is universally recognized as the most noble, imposing and monumental expression of Barbera in the world. Produced from the eponymous and highly renowned single-vineyard monopole Francia in Serralunga d'Alba — famous for its marl-limestone soils rich in active limestone and iron —, this Barbera redefines the boundaries of the grape variety, combining the natural and overwhelming freshness of Barbera with the structure, depth and aging potential typical of the estate's great Barolos.
In the cellar, vinification follows the uncompromising traditional approach signed by Roberto Conterno: spontaneous fermentation carried out by indigenous yeasts and maceration in large oak wood vats at uncontrolled temperatures. Aging continues for about 20 months in large traditional Slavonian oak barrels, followed by an appropriate rest in the bottle. The Barbera d'Alba Vigna Francia reveals itself as a monumental red, dense and vibrant, where sculpted acidity and the richness of dark fruit blend with deep balsamic and mineral notes, ensuring a multi-decade aging potential.
