Erbaluce di Caluso 2022

SKU: P2357S

The Erbaluce by Sorpasso (crafted by Martina Bernardo and Alessandro Moresco) stands as a masterful, deeply structured, and exceptionally age-worthy expression of the indigenous Erbaluce grape. Debuting with the 2020 vintage, this white originates from pristine vineyards in Piverone, set within the iconic glacial morainic amphitheater of the Serra di Ivrea. Grown on mineral-dense soils composed of sand, silt, and a strategic 10% clay fraction, the wine achieves intense saline minerality, crisp acidity, and a structural grip reminiscent of a fine red wine.

Cellar protocols favor precision and varietal clarity: hand-harvested clusters undergo a brief 3-hour skin contact maceration prior to gentle pressing. Fermentation is conducted in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures (14–18°C) with neutral yeasts to protect pristine varietal aromatics. The wine undergoes a prolonged lees maturation in stainless steel to build body and palate texture, followed by at least one full year of bottle refinement before release. Sorpasso's Erbaluce emerges as a white of striking character—combining high natural antioxidant density and razor-sharp acidity with multi-year cellaring potential.
