Viglierchio

Barolo DOCG 2022

SKU: P3944S

The inaugural Barolo release by Fratelli Viglierchio marks a compelling, highly ambitious debut rooted in the prized terroir of Monforte d’Alba. For their very first Barolo bottling, the Viglierchio brothers crafted a seamless cuvée bringing together two iconic cru vineyards that express complementary sides of the same land: Bricco San Pietro and Le Coste di Monforte.

The Bricco San Pietro parcel, perched at 470 meters above sea level with a West-facing exposure, contributes crisp freshness, altitude-driven tension, and mineral purity. Meanwhile, the Le Coste di Monforte vineyard, situated at 400 meters with a South-East exposure, weaves structural power, generosity, and dark fruit concentration into the matrix. Both plots thrive on Sant'Agata Fossil Marls. Vineyard management reaches tailor-made precision: yields are strictly limited, and through meticulous hand-sorting and clipping, each cluster is pruned of its lateral wings and apex, halving its size to ensure pristine, uniform ripeness and unprecedented aromatic concentration.

Cellar practices combine clean definition with classic patience. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel, while aging unfolds over roughly three years (36 months) in French oak tonneaux, followed by extended bottle resting. The outcome is a deep, powerful, and age-worthy Barolo that remains crystal-clear in its fruit profile. Released in an ultra-exclusive, micro-lot production of just 665 numbered bottles.
