The Barolo Rocche di Castiglione is the expression of an extreme and fascinating terroir. This vineyard, one of the oldest in the estate with its 65 years of age, sits on a narrow strip of land overlooking the steep, wooded ravines of Castiglione Falletto. Here, the bedrock emerges between the rows and the soil is so lean and loose that it forces the vines into a strenuous struggle for water: a hardship that results in grapes of unparalleled concentration and finesse.
The production is tiny, just over 2500 bottles, the result of almost obsessive care in the vineyard and cellar. After a solemn maturation of 30 months in 20 hl oak barrels, the wine reveals an aristocratic and balsamic profile. On the nose, it captivates with notes of licorice, chocolate, and small red fruits, while on the palate it stands out for its incredibly soft and enveloping tannins. It is a Barolo that plays on grace and complexity, capable of defying the decades with elegance.
