Solaia 2021

The Solaia 2021 by Marchesi Antinori is a legendary vintage, already hailed by international critics as one of the most sublime and balanced ever produced in the history of this iconic Super Tuscan. First produced in 1978, the wine comes from the renowned 20-hectare vineyard located on the hill of the Tignanello Estate in Mercatale in Val di Pesa (Chianti Classico), kissed by a southwest exposure and planted on marl-limestone soils exceptionally rich in alberese and galestro.

The climatic conditions of the 2021 vintage — characterized by a cool winter and a warm summer marked by excellent day-night temperature fluctuations — allowed for perfect phenolic ripeness and extraordinary concentration without any heaviness. The blend (traditionally composed of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Sangiovese and 10% Cabernet Franc) was selected berry by berry in Solaia's micro-vinification room. After fermentation in oak conical tanks, the wine matured for about 18 months in new French oak barrels. The Solaia 2021 reveals itself as a liquid sculpture of monumental power, extraordinary mineral drive and infinite silky grace.
