Pian dell'Orino

Brunello Di Montalcino Vigneti del Versante 2017

SKU: P2436S

The Brunello di Montalcino DOCG "Vigneti del Versante" by Pian dell'Orino (Caroline Pobl and Jan Hendrik Erbach) is one of the purest, most scientific and poetic manifestos of biodynamic agriculture applied to pure Sangiovese. Located on the south-eastern slope of Montalcino (between the areas of Pian dell'Orino and Cancelli), the estate manages the vineyards as a living ecosystem, conducting in-depth studies on soil microbiomes, individual plots, and canopy balance. The "Vigneti del Versante" selection combines the best grapes from the plots of Pian dell'Orino, Cancelli Rossi, C Pian dell'Orino and Scarnacuoia, characterized by calcareous-marl soils with an extremely high presence of clay and active limestone.

In the cellar, Jan Hendrik Erbach applies an uncompromising artisanal winemaking process: spontaneous fermentation carried out by indigenous yeasts with long skin macerations in wooden vats and neutral tanks. The aging lasts for over 36-40 months in large Slavonian and French oak barrels, followed by a long rest in the bottle without any fining or filtration. The Brunello Vigneti del Versante by Pian dell'Orino reveals itself as a monumental red in terms of energy, transparency, and precision: it combines the juiciness and concentration of dark fruit with an incredible mineral acidity, guaranteeing an evolutionary aging potential that defies decades.
