Ca' Del Baio

Barbaresco Autin beige 2023

SKU: P4117S

The Barbaresco DOCG 'Autinbej' by Cà del Baio (the Grasso family, Treiso) serves as a heartfelt homage to the memory of Ernesto Grasso, who fondly referred to the estate's finest, sun-drenched west and southwest-facing slope plots as 'autin bej' ('beautiful vineyards' in local Piemontese dialect). Far from being a single-vineyard Cru (MGA), 'Autinbej' represents a classic multi-parcel assemblage combining pristine Nebbiolo grapes from the Vallegrande and Marcarini MGAs in Treiso, honoring the traditional Langhe art of blending different vineyard sites for ultimate structural and aromatic harmony.

Cellar protocols favor a refined, balanced traditionalism: temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks with a 9–15 day skin maceration, followed by maturation for approximately 24 months in large traditional Slavonian oak casks. Cà del Baio's 'Autinbej' emerges as a red of distinct identity and vibrant personality—soaring with red-cherry, violet, and subtle baking spice aromatics, anchored by chiseled yet silky tannins and bright acidity built for near-term charm and multi-year aging.
