Barolo Marassio 2022

The Barolo "Marassio" is the absolute masterpiece of Giulia Negri, affectionately known in the wine world as the "Barolo Girl" for her fresh, courageous, and deeply terroir-driven vision. This extraordinary wine comes to life from a single plot located in Serradenari, within the municipality of La Morra. Sitting at roughly 530 meters above sea level, Marassio stands as the highest-altitude Nebbiolo vineyard in the entire Barolo appellation—a true outpost for high-altitude viticulture.

This extreme elevation, paired with soils rich in clay-limestone marls and pale fossil sands, grants Marassio a unique identity. In the cellar, Giulia Negri adopts a heavily traditionalist yet elegantly minimalist philosophy: fermentation triggers spontaneously via indigenous yeasts in large wooden vats, followed by an extended maceration. The wine then ages for around 30 months in large Slavonian oak casks. The result is an alpine-style Barolo that trades heavy density and opulence for unmatched tension, verticality, and aromatic finesse.
