Langhe Pinot Nero Campo Romano 2021
Campo Romano is a unique expression in the Piedmontese landscape: a pure Pinot Nero, whose vines arrived directly from Burgundy and were planted in 1977 at Cascine Drago. The result is a rare alchemy: the innate elegance and finesse typical of the French terroir are grafted onto a deeply Piedmontese structure.
The wine's name tells a fascinating story. During the earth-moving operations to prepare the vineyard soil, numerous remains from the Roman era emerged—pieces of bricks, tiles, and fragments of amphorae—testimony to an ancient settlement that once stood on that very hill. Today, that soil continues to yield treasures, no longer of clay, but of glass: a wine that combines historical depth with varietal nobility.
