Beerenauslese Cuveè 2021
The Kracher winery is a legendary name, universally recognized as a global benchmark for sweet and noble rot (Botrytis Cinerea) wines. The Beerenauslese Cuvée 2021 (often abbreviated as BA) perfectly embodies the style and razor-sharp precision of this Illmitz estate. This cuvée is crafted from a thoughtful blend of Welschriesling and Chardonnay grown in a unique microclimate: the proximity to Lake Neusiedl and its dense autumn mists triggers the development of noble rot, concentrating sugars and acids inside the berries to a miraculous degree.
The 2021 vintage is celebrated across Austria as one of the finest and most balanced in recent decades for sweet wines. Kracher’s winemaking masterfully captures this seasonal perfection: the grapes, meticulously hand-selected berry by berry, are fermented and aged with 60% in stainless steel and 40% in large oak casks, resting on their fine lees for about 14 months. The result is a sweet wine of astonishing complexity, where the natural residual sugar is never heavy, but constantly lifted by a vibrant, pristine acidity.
