Barolo Ginestra Vigna del Gris
Barolo Vigna del Gris represents the most elegant and floral side of the prestigious Ginestra cru in Monforte d’Alba. While its counterpart, Sorì Ginestra, is known for its monumental power, Vigna del Gris—located on a Southeast-facing slope—is distinguished by an innate grace. The secret lies in the soil: the Lequio Formations, consisting of white, calcareous, and sandy earth, impart an aristocratic verticality and a mineral freshness that makes the wine extraordinarily harmonious even in its youth.
The vines, planted from 1983 onwards, produce beautifully balanced grapes that the Conterno Fantino family vinifies with extreme precision. Following stainless steel fermentation and malolactic fermentation in wood, the wine ages in French oak of various sizes to enhance the purity of the fruit. On the nose, Vigna del Gris enchants with a delicate bouquet of dried roses, small red berries, and subtle sweet spices. On the palate, it is velvety, with silky tannins leading into a long, savory finish. A production of approximately 8,000 bottles for those seeking Monforte’s complexity delivered with supreme finesse.
