Barbera d'Alba 2023

Barbera is, by definition, the farmer’s wine: humble yet proud, deeply rooted in the soil, and considered for generations the "lifeblood" of the Langa people. Cascina Fontana interprets this variety with profound respect for tradition, offering a vivid and direct wine that expresses all the robustness and typical acidity that have made it the most beloved and widespread grape in Piedmont.

Compared to Dolcetto, Mario Fontana’s Barbera shows a more robust body and a greater wealth of extracts. The winery's choice is to support the vibrant nature of the grape: aging takes place partly in concrete tanks and partly in used small oak casks. This essential step allows the wine to soften and gain elegance, tempering the natural acidity of the variety without ever distorting its primary character.
