Moscato di Pantelleria Grappa
Theisland of Pantelleria is the natural home of Sicilian Moscato par excellence, made from the ancient Zibibbo grape variety introduced by the Arabs, whose name comes from Zabib meaning fruit dried in the sun. Moscato has been produced on the island for a very long time and was first mentioned by Francesco Cupani in 1696, but it was not until the end of the 19th century that it left the borders of Pantelleria to spread slowly throughout Europe. The soil is sandy, volcanic, extremely rich in minerals and silicates, with clay and humus produced by the disintegration of the underlying lava.
The sun-drenched vineyards of Pantelleria yield grape pomace rich in all the aromatic nuances of Moscato, which, after gentle pressing, controlled fermentation and slow distillation in a batch pot still in a water bath, gives rise to this grappa, aged in Allier and Limousin oak barriques.
COLOR: brilliant golden yellow.
AROMA: a long theory of tropical fruit, from banana to pineapple, from papaya to mango, in a persistent succession of tones and fragrances of varying intensity.
FLAVOR: the warmth and fullness stimulate the palate with notes of Cypriot grapes and prickly pears, before closing with a blend of small pastries, from toasted notes to crème brûlée.
